Assistant Director - Financial Management

THE ORGANISATION:

Interesting Government agency. Small but with commercial aspects to their operations which provide some interesting complexity and opportunity to the accounting team.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a great opportunity to pick up a permanent role in Government where you still get to put your commercial acumen to good use. Work closely with the CFO to develop and improve the financial frameworks and processes.

THE ROLE:

  • Day to day oversight of financial and management accounting and financial operations services. (Inc. financial reporting, budgets, forecasting, tax, assets, AP, AR and Treasury)
  • Lead, develop and manage a small team in the finance area to hit deadlines and improve finance processes.
  • Build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders through which you will actively investigate and determine financial requirements.
  • Deliver a range of improvement initiatives and projects for the finance area in close conjunction with the CFO.
  • Activity based costing projects to accurately determine the true cost drivers for commercial business elements of the organisation
  • Ensure compliance and accountability across the area with Government standards.
  • Oversight administration of the finance systems.

THE PERSON:

This role will suit a commercially astute Finance Manager with strong technical skills (CA/CPA qualified) and excellent leadership capability. Importantly, you will really enjoy improving systems and processes and you will be able to demonstrate a track record of achievement in this area in previous roles.

The role engages with a wide array of stakeholders up to senior executive level and so you will have excellent communicative skills for both verbal and written elements.

Previous experience using TechOne would be an advantage and advanced / intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are important.

$110 - $120k + 15.4% super

EL1 Capability and Organisational Design

THE ORGANISATION:

This key agency provides support to the Australian community and also enables other Commonwealth agencies/departments to operate efficiently.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position is being offered on a non-ongoing basis for an initial period of up to 12 months period, this is a great opportunity for a learning and development specialist or organisational design specialist to develop innovative and effective strategies.

THE ROLE:

In this role you will be required to develop a contemporary and cutting edge L&D strategy. Taking into account organisational design you will need to create and implement performance and talent capability frameworks. You will bring new ideas and use a consultative/co-design approach to the role. Fitting into a small team, your role will be relationship driven as you will be working with different business streams to increase talent capability.

Please note - whilst this is similar to an L&D role our client is seeking someone with creative thought who can develop proactive and original strategies!

THE PERSON:

APS5 / 6 Secretariat Officer

THE ORGANISATION:

Our client is a high profile government department of National and International significance, specialising in various areas of police and programmes, renowned for its professional and welcoming staff culture.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This contract will see you supporting the policy and project taskforce working on an event of huge importance. Your day to day Secretariat contributions will ensure the smooth operations of the taskforce over their busiest period in May, June and July. This is a great opportunity to work within a fast paced, exciting contract, become a key point of contact and liaise with high level stakeholders.

THE ROLE:

Reporting directly to the EL2 your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the team's overseas travel itineraries including flight bookings, registrations, accommodation, transport, visas, for multiple overseas meetings scheduled across the next few months
  • Administrative and coordination management of the areas briefing processes
  • Liaising across various working groups to coordinate agendas, documentation, information and comms across the department
  • Media monitoring for the event
  • Building rapport with a number of stakeholders on a daily basis and managing communications across the team as required
THE PERSON:

Ideally you will have worked in an Executive Officer or Secretariat Capacity within a high profile area in the Federal Government. Outside of this we will consider candidates with high level stakeholder engagement abilities, professional communication and those that can demonstrate attention to detail and organisation from previous roles.

You will be passionate about coordination and will love the challenge of managing overseas travel, which is often changing and will throw complications at you on a regular basis. Candidates must have a baseline security clearance to be considered.

THE SALARY:

An attractive hourly rate between $45-$55 per hour + Super is on offer.

Office Manager | Finance

THE ORGANISATION:

To assist and enable the continued growth, they are looking for a versatile office manager who wants to be involved during a critical period of change.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Working with a down to earth team, you'll take on the critical responsibility of managing the day-to-day financial matters and office management tasks. You'll have the flexibility of working either school hours (30+ hours) or full-time on the north side of town in a professional yet warm environment. The office is set in gorgeous surrounds and cruising past rush hour will be a peaceful way to begin the day. This permanent opportunity affords interesting, complex bookkeeping and office management across multiple entities.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Finance Manager and Managing Directors, you will be responsible for the office management including but not limited to:

Finance duties:

  • Accounts payable; supplier invoicing and processing
  • Accounts receivable; basic debt collection and receipting
  • Reconciling contract variations and raising invoices as required
  • Weekly and fortnightly payroll processing and associated journals
  • Weekly bank reconciliations

Office Management duties:

  • Social Media updates, reviewing comments/ratings
  • Online Marketing; website updates, new projects, liaise with web developers
  • Organising social functions
  • Invitations to Christmas party, mail out Christmas cards
  • Reception duties and filing of soft/hard copies
  • General administration support as required

THE PERSON:

As an experienced Office Manager, you will have the confidence to autonomously run the accounts of a medium-sized business. Your attention to detail and accuracy will be evident in the quality of your work. You will be able to juggle competing priorities and work across both finance and office managerial duties. A keen interest in marketing or design will be important as you will have the ability to make a significant impact in their social media/online presence. Experience in design/construction/property and an in depth systems knowledge of MYOB will be highly regarded.

$65K - $80K + Super prorata if part time commensurate experience

APS4 / 5 Credit Cards & Travel Officer - 12 months!

THE ORGANISATION:

This key agency provides support to the Australian community and also enables other Commonwealth agencies/departments to operate efficiently. Due to increased work, they are looking for an experienced Credit Card and Travel Officer to join them for a long contract.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Working with a fun bunch of operators you will have the opportunity to assist the Department stay on top of all travel and credit card expenses. You will have heaps of stakeholder engagement across the entire department. This is great transition opportunity to get out of EA/PA work and move into the finance team. This 12 month contract coincides with an exciting growth period. Do well and you will likely be rewarded with an extension and potentially a permanent position.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Team Leader, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Processing credit card transactions
  • Reconcile credit card transactions via SAP
  • Providing advice to staff in line with the agency's travel policy
  • Troubleshooting any travel related issues with staff
  • Booking of all travel for departmental staff and occasional external groups
  • Processing travel advances and acquittals and assisting staff with the correct acquittal process

THE PERSON:

You will enjoy fast paced, high volume processing and thrive on completing tasks in an accurate and timely manner. You will have at 2+ years processing accounts in a complex or government environment. You will also have strong communication skills and a pleasant phone manner. An understanding of QBT, Diners and AOT systems and processes is essential. Experience using a large FMIS (SAP, Oracle or TechOne) will be highly regarded.

THE SALARY:

$40-50/hour + Super commensurate with experience
