The Canberra region’s Shaw Vineyard Estate is using its growing presence in China, Singapore, Thailand and will use direct flights from the capital to Singapore to attract more international visitors to the area with plans to build a state-of-the-art cellar door well-underway and construction due to be completed in early 2018..

Based in Murrumbateman, the Shaw brand was established in 1999. Today, the label is readily available across Canberra and in bottle shops, restaurants and hotels across the country and in Asia.

Graeme Shaw says the brand saw wine sales in these markets grow by around 12% and this year the label is expected to surpass that result yet again.

“With the advent of international flights, and visitor numbers to our region increasing, we’re conscious of our role as producers and tourism operators in the Canberra region. I hope what we are doing is seen as a contribution to the Canberra economy as our city becomes globally ready.”

“International markets are the central force of our business plan, and we’ve re-designed the visitor experience to our cellar door to make it comparable to the best examples in the world”.

“Visitors at our vineyard want to see, taste and experience the origins of the wine. For our export strategy into Asia to work, we need to start here by building a world class cellar door, similar to Margaret River, the South Island of New Zealand or that of Napa Valley in California.,” said Mr Shaw.

The new Shaw Cellar Door will be complete and open for business by Easter 2018. It will feature multiple tasting zones to cater to large tour groups. Shaw has also secured the renowned Create Catering Group to Shaw Vineyard Estate.

To coincide with the updates at Shaw Vineyard Estate, the team at Shaw Vineyard Estate have commissioned a destination marketing campaign to promote the region and what is on our doorstep. The campaign, called 'A Shaw Escape' features a couple flying in from Singapore for an escape to Murrumbateman.
